UMBRA ARMATURA
A sculptural exploration of psychological armor
Umbra Armatura emerges from the concept of masking: the social mechanisms through which we construct layers of protection in order to conceal vulnerability.
The project materializes this tension between defense and confinement. 3D printing and mechanical systems are used as constructive tools to generate rigid and articulated pieces that question the passive nature of the accessory and propose an active presence on the body.

PIECES
The Umbra Armatura system fragments into three strategic bodily interventions: face, hand, and shoulder. Each operates within a different domain (identity, action, and posture) constructing a distributed defensive architecture.
IDENTITY → Helm
ACTION → Gauntlet
POSTURE → Spauldron

HELM
Helm is the point where the armor ceases to be metaphor and becomes interface. Positioned on the face, the most exposed area of the body, the piece directly confronts identity and defense.
Mechanical System
The extensions are driven by servomotors integrated into a structural black resin headband. This headband distributes the weight and functions as the main mechanical support.

GAUNTLET
Gauntlet shifts the Umbra Armatura system toward the territory of gesture. The piece does not cover the hand, it attaches to it like a partial exoskeleton, generating a second anatomy.

SPAULDRON
Spauldron approaches the Umbra Armatura system from the scale of the body. The shoulder, a transitional zone between torso and arm, becomes a territory of defense and volumetric expansion.
